How to use your link-in-bio to grow your email list
How to turn bio link traffic into email subscribers with a landing page and a lead magnet people want.

1. Hook 'em fast: why your bio link can grow your email list
A new email subscriber is worth a lot more than a passing like or comment, and your bio link is one of the easiest places to pick them up.
Every dollar you put into email marketing returns about $36, compared with roughly $2.50 for social ads. Even so, plenty of creators leave their bio link as a bland placeholder that doesn't ask anyone for anything.
This guide shows you how to turn that link into something that pulls people onto your email list.
2. Build a bulletproof bio link landing page
Your mini-homepage, made irresistible
Think of your bio link landing page as a shop window. If it's cluttered or looks like it was last updated in 2015, people walk straight past. If it's bright, bold and clear, they stop, lean in and click.
A quick-start checklist for your landing page:
- Grab our Link-in-Bio Page Setup Checklist for Creators and tick off every box
- Apply the mobile-first design tips from the Mobile-First Fonts & Colors Guide
- Keep navigation simple: one main offer, one bold button, and as few distractions as possible
Contrast is what draws the eye. Put a bright CTA button against a calm, neutral background, use friendly fonts that stay readable on small screens, and leave white space around each element so it has room.
Picture two shops on a busy high street. Shop A has a dozen posters, neon signs and random sale tags, and your brain can't take it all in. Shop B has one spotlight on one dress on a mannequin, so you stop and look inside. Your landing page works the same way.
Once your page looks good, you need an offer people actually want.
3. Create irresistible lead magnets & CTAs
Freebies that feel VIP (not spammy)
Generic "10 Tips" PDFs don't excite anyone anymore. People want something that feels made for their specific problems, and when you get that right, they sign up.
Some formats that work well:
- Checklists: "The 7-Step Content Planner That Pros Swear By"
- Mini e-courses: "5 Days to Instagram Confidence"
- Seasonal guides: "Summer Content Planner: Fill Your Feed with Sunshine"
Most people would happily hand over their email for a backstage pass, so make your offer feel similarly exclusive. Phrases like "exclusive access", "first glimpse" or "members-only tutorial" make people curious.
Placement matters too. In our Above-vs-Below-the-Fold CTA Placement Guide, we show that a dual-position A/B test often wins, so try both positions, let the data decide, and stick with the winner.
If you're stuck for ideas, look at indie musicians who share the first few bars of a song and then say, "Want the full score? Drop your email." Their conversion rates are high. Read more in our case study on Link-in-Bio for Musicians.
4. Seamless integration: connecting Linky to your email stack
No code needed: from click to inbox
You don't need a developer to connect your bio page to Mailchimp, ConvertKit or ActiveCampaign. Here's how:
- Choose your integration. Mailchimp, ConvertKit and ActiveCampaign all work, or you can use Zapier for custom workflows.
- Set it up in Linky. In your dashboard, go to "Add New Link" → "Email Signup" and pick your provider.
- Decide whether to embed or redirect. You can put the signup form directly on your bio page, or send people to a gated landing page elsewhere.
- Consider two-step gating, where clicking a button opens a pop-up form. It feels less invasive and often converts better, with lifts of up to 20%.
Bonus tip: some creators add a short quiz or micro-survey before the form. It's playful, makes people curious, and warms them up to share their email address.

Once it's live, every click and form fill has a chance of turning into a subscriber.
5. Measure, tweak, and skyrocket your list
Analytics are your north star
You can't improve what you don't measure. Keep an eye on three numbers: your click-through rate (how many people click your main link), your conversion rate (how many of those people subscribe), and which lead magnet performs best.
Our Bio-Link Analytics Deep Dive shows you how to dig into your stats. You might find your CTA does best midweek, or that holiday guides beat your evergreen freebies in Q4.
Try a seasonal experiment: put your holiday planner up against your classic checklist and see whether the festive version pulls in more subscribers.
Fewer choices often work better, too. If you've got five offers competing for attention, cut back to your best one or two. A short list usually converts better than a big buffet.
Keep tweaking and watching the numbers, and your list will keep growing.
6. Next steps & resources
By now you've set up your page, created an offer, connected your email tools without code, and started using analytics. From here, it's a loop:
- Set up →
- Offer →
- Integrate →
- Analyze →
- Repeat!
